Let Us Talk About Parenting, Shall We?

Updated: Oct 17, 2021

This title alone makes parenting sound so refined and structured...and it is not. Parenting is a job, an adventure, a calling to some, a struggle to others but it is what it is...the act of raising a child. And we all want to raise our children in such a way that they are prepared to go out on their own and be a success. That success will look different in all cases because what we deem to be successful varies.

We, as parents, not only stress about our children's future, we stress about the present and how we are actually parenting. If we only had to address the act of parenting our children that would be easy...well easier. But we know that there are other stresses that factor into this parenting equation. There are stresses from the job, lack of a job, family dynamics, relationships and overall life stressors. What these stressors do is wear on us as parents. Which causes our attention to waver, our patience to decrease and in some cases disappear.

What a child might do on a less stressful day gets a whole different reaction than on a very stressful day. This happens to every parent, even me.

The concern, however, is when everyday is a very stressful day and we do not know how to manage the variables in the parenting equation. This is where coaching can be a valuable asset to you and your family. Through coaching we explore and address why we as parents feel it necessary to allow most if not all of these variables to have such a significant impact in our lives. And a significant impact in our family life which includes parenting. But more importantly we will explore how parenting while putting ourselves first is possible and necessary for a healthy mental and emotional life.
